Pet Alpacas
I first got alpacas in 2004 when I bought Indigo and Gypsy in Anchorage. Unfortunately, Indigo had very painful congenital spinal bone spurs and had to be euthanized. In 2007, I bought sweet, little Canela from the Anchor River Llama and Alpaca Ranch. He and Gypsy have been best buddies since. If you want alpacas as pets, be aware that you have to have at least two as they are social herd animals and do not do well alone.

- Yes, they are so different when you can spend time with them and train them. The more time I spend, the better they become!
