We started in 2004 with four Alpaca Two Full Chillen breed females, one with Cria at side and one Jr. Herdsire. we are now up to eighteen Alpaca. 9 girls ,8 boys and expecting 4 cria this year. Also living on our farm are three horses, a pet pig named Henry some free ranging ducks and chickens, they do a great job controlling ticks, slugs and other pest and their beloved K-9’s one of which is Cici our LGD who does a great job of keeping everyone safe and sound .We also have added a flock of organic brown egg layers to the farm this year and we are both excited and enthusiastic about the future growth of our farm.
Hi J,
How much snow are you getting there in VT???
We got the highest snow totals for our state today... upwards of 10 inches! We were definitely in the bulls eye here! With more snow due in on Sunday...
Just glad that we have a truck with a plow!
Yes I believe Anatolians come in all colors, short and long hair! They are natural guardians don't need to be trained, but need to be socialized! I'm full of info about them and well start a web site shortly before I'm ready to start selling both alpacas and Anatolians.
Both of my dogs are Anatolians...a long haired male with lots of black and a tri colored short hair female pup. Hoping to hobby breed a couple of litters. I need to supplement my income! It goes with alpaca breeding.
Hi Jay new friend!
That's a nice animal on your profile. Is it a male and by what sire? I look at all these farm pictures and think ahhh look at all that green. I am on dry lot and have prefectly barren lots, if anything growns the alpacas jump right on it and eat it.
Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be :)
Just a small amount of shovelling this morning. We got about 4 " of the powdery stuff. We are sxpecting more this weekend though... I can't wai til spring already!
Mostly cause then it's show season here :) I will have 4 to show in the spring, 2 boys and 2 girls.... 3 of them each after the other... and 1 the next day. So, it will be hectic at first and then I can relax for a while and enjoy the show!
We had the same warm temps that thawed everything and then refroze it all too :) I was adding sand barriers so that the water didn't go in the barn. I also was able to throw some sand on the icy spots so that they could walk outside. I had my sons put about 6 wheelbarrow loads of sand in the barn for just that reason this summer.... they thought I was crazy :)
Now Momma's not as loony as they thought!
The pacas are all quite happy to be locked in... all nestled down in their straw.
The horse and goat are happy too... they got extra hay tonight. and I am sure that there will be tons of horse piles for me to clean up in the lean-to tomorrow cause he won't bother to go outside with all this snow and ice either :)
Hi back... just accepted the friend request... headed out to do night chores... they will be locked in tonight... we are expecting 4" of snow and the wind is coming out of the east... right into their barn doors.
So they are going to be nice and cozy inside tonight ! Then I can dig them out in the morning....
