I'm looking over your contracts and although I have never created a contract for a sale... I have been "bitten" by other type contracts that were not "specific" enough. So... I made some changes to your contract for purchase to include verbiage such as .... who pays for transport of a sold female if she returns to your farm for breeding because the buyers can not get her to maintain a pregnancy. Who pays to transport her back and when. If she remains on your farm until she gives birth... do you then implement an agisting contract. I modified your alpaca listing to also include the current status of the animal ( bred, maiden, gelded, non-breeder) and the CHIP number if applicable. Also included things like a maiden having normal reproductive organs as confirmed by veterinary exam. and a few other things, like will the buyer be invoiced for installment payments and how. How will they pay you. How will you the seller notify them of default ... and more. I'm not an attorney, don't play one on TV or in the movies. Just my experience from being in and seeing other contracts. I have not "modified" the agisting one yet... but I'm on my way to it now. :)

I'd like to see one on co-owning. Maryann, thank you for bringing this up.

Dusty,

I do have one but have to find it!! To date, I have only co-owned with a very good friend so very basic and on a male as well. I am sure there are contracts out there much more detailed and more so when a female is involved! Anyone willing to share?

I would also like to find a contract for co-owning a male. Thanks!

Would anyone be willing to share the contract they use when brokering animals for others? Do you use different contracts if the animals are on &/or off your farm?

Thank you soooooo much for starting this thread. I am VERY new to alpacas and look forward to seeing what others who have been doing this for some time are using. To this point I have only seen the contracts that were used when we made our first purchases.

Time flies by, doesn't it? Here we are, Labor Day weekend already!! Not sure about others, but farm calls are picking up & this brings to mind our talk about contracts.

I am still interested in others who would be willing to share what they use for co-owning both males & females as well as brokering both on-farm (the one doing the brokering) or off-farm, (if the animals stay on their owners farm)

I know I still should consult an attorney for "full coverage", but am in need of at least a starting point with something that works!

Thanks so much!!
