Made By Alpaca People For Alpaca People

I have been asked to keep 6 adult alpaca's and one cria, at my place, and to try to sell them for the owner who is moving. I agreed to do it, but now I have no idea what current agisitng fees are. I can not just do it as a good neighbor Sam type thing, as they do require care and feed, hay, and water all of which will cost me. Help! Thanks,Sharlene

Sharlene,

We charge 2.75 a day per alpaca and offer a 5% discount on 5 or more. Hope that helps.

I will toss that number into the ring and see what happens! Thank so much for the speedy reply Cindy.

We charge 3.50 a day but of course we have to pay a lot more for hay down here!

If I am taking an alpaca on sales consignment, in the past I have not charged board for the length of the sales agreement. I do take 15% commission off the sale price. Owner is expected to pay all charges related to sales including transfer of registration, tavel expenses, testing, etc. Owner is expected to have insurance coverage on the alpacas in case of a situation. One thing I would do w/the owner is get everything down in writing so there are no surprises if a situation were to arise.
Good luck

Good advice Cindy. We now have a signed contract. The owner wants the animals sold at the first chance. It is a group of 7 from very nice bloodlines. If anyone knows of a person wanting to get some nice suri's at way below market pricing, please let me know.
