I'm sad to say that our littl girl passed away .She was just to weak even though we bottle fed ,her it didn't do any good. Thanks for the info on the ears.
We had a cria born here with both ears curled as well, (see pics of little girl with pink cria coat on my member page.) We used tampons (yes tampons) the soft cotton part on the inside of each ear then used vet wrap (can get a tractor supply in di...

Bent ears

Has anyone experienced a cria with bent ears? We have been blessed with a beautiful rose gray female but she has bent ears. I did see an article some time ago on how to fix this but I can't find it now when I need it, figures, huh. They said something about splinting the ears with popcicle sticks. She was born on he first, is it to late to do this and how long do they have to stay on?

A Tale of Two Cria

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was a day of easy births, it was a day of dystocias (difficult births), it was a season of tiny babies, it was a epoch for a rather large baby. One cria was up and running around, the other was weak and wouldn’t stop bleeding!

Satur… Continue

Our LGD is here.

I have been thinking of getting a LGD for a few years now. We don't have a whole lot of predators here, but I hear coyotes every night, and when a friend who lives about a mile away told me her German Shepherd was killed in her yard by two roving pit bulls, my mind was made up.

When we picked up my young male alpaca at Panorama Ranch in Oregon last fall, I asked them about their Great Pyrs. They told me they were getting on in years, and would be getting 2 puppies from Randy and Barbara Coleman… Continue

Cria number 2 - this one is a boy, but WHAT A BOY!

After making me wait for 3 weeks, my maiden girl FINALLY had her cria. Flora is a Coyo Destini grandaughter, and she was bred to Hemingway's Bogart. I was so excited about this cria. Bogart is to die for - great fiber, great temperment, great conformation. His AFD at the age of 3, 4, 5 and 6 were 20 or 21, with SDs of 4 to 4.8. And of course Hemingway is his sire. But I am one to look forward to a males progeny rather than backward at his pedigree - Bogart's EPD numbers are impressive - a minus… Continue
